The association CHNT-ICOMOS Austria was founded in early 2021 to organise the annual Conference on Cultural Heritage and New Technologies. It is a sister association of the Austrian National Committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS). The association has around 20 members who contribute to the continuous development of the conference and participate intensively in the preparations. The president of the association is DI Dr. Ulrike Herbig. The treasurer is Mag. Wolfgang Börner, who has been entrusted with the organisation of the CHNT for the last 26 years. The City of Vienna (Department 7 – Cultural Affairs) is the association’s cooperation partner and is hosting the event in the Vienna City Hall.

Where will the conference take place? And when?
The CHNT 29 will take place from November 4 to 6, 2024 at the Vienna City Hall. At CHNT29 there are different venues where sessions, round tables, panels and trainings take place.
Where is the registration desk? Do I have to register again on site?
The registration desk is located in Vienna City Hall (in front of Steinsaal, 2nd floor). All persons who have already registered online will receive their name badge there. People who have not registered in advance can buy a ticket for the conference at the registration desk.
What if I cannot attend the in-person conference, will there be an option to attend virtually?
Yes, CHNT29 will be held as a hybrid event. Speakers and participants can take part either onsite or online. In this way, we want to give everyone around the world the opportunity to participate in the conference.
Where do I get the link for the online participation?
All online speaker and participants will receive the link for the online conference tool ZOOM via E-Mail.
What can I do if I am not sure yet whether I can participate online or on site?
There will be an option to buy an online ticket first and upgrade it to an on-site ticket afterwards.

Up to what age can a student ticket be purchased?
To purchase a student ticket (student speaker or student participant) you must not be older than (incl.) 27 years of age. Students under 27 years of age who only give a presentation at the PhD/Master session will be invited by the committee. Students over 27 years of age who are only presenting at the PhD/Master session may purchase a student speaker ticket.
Where can I get information about the publication of my conference paper?
All authors can publish a long paper or a short paper if the paper is accepted by the reviewers. Please find more information under the tab “Proceedings”. The Authors will be contacted by email.
