Wenshan Chen received her bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 2017 with the Outstanding Graduate Student award at Hunan University in China, and in 2020 she graduated with a master’s degree in History and Theory of Architecture from the same school.

In 2018, she joined the Conservation Center of Hunan University and actively participated in several preservation projects as a research assistant. She has been engaged with the three-year academic project Modern Techniques for Surveying and Documenting the Wooden Heritage in Hunan Province, during which she was responsible for applying modern techniques for surveying and documenting Chinese wooden structures and the preservation of traditional villages in Hunan province.

She began her PhD program in the Preservation of Cultural Heritage at the Politecnico di Milano in 2020, and her primary research interests are cultural route conservation and the reactivation of cultural heritage digitalization.
